Hi,
I've got no audio in my HP Pavillon 525c after reinstalling win xp pro. I have to mention that I did not use HP recovery cds because I lost them.
I guess I need a driver from those cds. "How can I know what sound card is in my computer?".

Firstly check to see if the driver is missing.
Right click on "MyComputer" go to "Properties",click on the "Hardware" tab and click on "Device Manager".
Look for your sound devices there and see if there are any yellow icons next to them.

Next, download PC Wizard: http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard
This should tell you what kind of sound card you have.
You can usually download the drivers from the manufacturers website.
