Re: Front Panel Audio Connectos? Good or Bad?
Depends on a bunch of things
For mostly all audio headers that I know of, connecting the front panel audio means disabling the rear jacks. Usually, front panel audio connectors are just your simple 3.5mm Stereo and Microphone jacks, in which case you’re automatically limited to 2 channel audio and no Line-In; forget about 5.1. There are a few cases with an HD Audio front panel connector, but they really are few.
If you’re talking about higher quality audio, connecting a pair of unshielded aluminium wires and running it through an electromagnetic mine field wont do wonders for the audio fidelity.
Personally, I feel that the best usage scenario is where the user wants depends on cheap headphones for their sound, otherwise its cables coming out of strange places for no good purpose or benefit.
