Smile RE:hot or not?

sounds a good system but you have not mentioned the amount of hard drive it can take, and the motherboardtype so I can only go on what you have given me to look at. but sounds good! Is the RAM that you have mentioned the maximum that it can take?

It's a half-decent system - the monitor is particularly nice. However, because you're got so much real estate for games, you may well find that you can't run games at full settings, particularly if they support DX10. An 8800GT, GTS or GTX should be next on your list. I'd go for the GT, as it represents by far the best bang-for-buck ratio.

As far as the processor goes, I'd have been far more inclined to go for an Intel Core 2 platform - in any iteration, they roll up AMD processors and smoke them.

Nevertheless, put a high end GPU in that machine, and you'll have a beautiful machine.

7/10 (I'd have given it 8, but for the 8600)

It's a nice system. Although having so much ram and such a high end sceen bothers me. If I see what kinda graphics card you use. Playing games on a 19" with that card is really no problem. however, the 8600GT isnt as good as it seems. It's a 8serie, but it is still compatible to the 1950X ati card. Atleast I think it is. Someone ever mentioned that to me.

Since you need alot of video ram to process all the graphics on such a high screen a 8800serie card is a much better alternative. Might you ever get to a decent budget again. Buy a upcoming 9800 card. Becose Buying a 8800GTS (Or higher) card right now should be a waste of money since the 9800cards are gonna be out in a few months. Furthermore I have nothing to disadvice. And I really admire your 4GB's of ram.

EDIT: NOTE: If your gonna buy a 9800card in the future. Youd better upgrade your psu. Im not quite sure if the 9800Cards will run at more watts or less. Probably more since most newer cards need more wattage.
