Sounds pretty good. I'm not sure why an Opteron board would have 604 pin Xeon sockets instead of socket 940 though

The Quadro FX 4400 might not have been money so well spent however, unless you’re specifically doing CAD work (not using it as a server). That particular model is based on NV45 architecture, and has a clock speed very similar to a GeForce 6800 Ultra. For the same price, you could get a G70/GeForce 7800 GT/X card.

Advantages of a Quadro card over GeForce card are the internal 128bit pipeline (greater colour accuracy) and ASIC-like driver features like framelock, accelerated multiple window rendering, etc. Furthermore, the quality of the pcb and components is much higher than a comparable recreational counterpart. If you’re not using the card for CAD however, it’s mostly wasted.


Only thing that's missing is the frequency of your processor kit.
