Matched pair v. single stick
Hi
The Abit KN9 motherboard I used for my recent PC build has two pairs of memory slots which will support 800MHz (PC2-6400) DDR2 up to 8GB (4x2Gb). However, at the time I purchased a single stick of 1Gb 667MHz because it was on offer for £67 and looked a bargain. I have been studying the internet shops for matched pairs of DDR2 and I could get a matched pair of 1024Mb (2 x512Mb) for around £102 (Corsair XMS2 5-5-5-12). Questions are: How much of a performance increase would this give me over the present single stick? Does 2 x 512Mb operate quicker than 1 x 1Gb? Thanks P9 Last edited by phantom9 : 06/12/06 at 12:18.
