When I have 1 piece or higher of RAM in- CPU Fan keeps spinning
- ON LED does not turn green
- HD LED is full green
- Ethernet Adapter has power
- And the main problem, the monitor stays in standby (orange light)
- NO BEEPS AT ALL!
When there is no RAM present in the computer- CPU Fan keeps spinning
- ON LED is full green
- HD LED does not turn green
- 3 Short Beeps
- Monitor remains in standby!
- Ethernet Adapter has power
This has happened straight after I have *foolishly* inserted a RAM stick without first checking what type it was! After this, my computer went into this "standby" mode. I am quite qualified in Hardware, and I am a programmer, but this case is particularly new! I made sure to ground myself, with a grounding kit (belt and gloves), and I have already taken out all IDE connections to see if the status changed,
which it didn't. I have tried a flea reset and have tried a BIOS reset, to no avail. I inserted the RAM carefully, making sure not to bump anything, and I have a proper Serge protector connected to my computer.
It is
not the following things (I have checked up on these, tried these parts on different computers and tried different parts on my computer, to no avail):-
- Video Card
- PSU
- Hard Drive(s)
- Floppy Drive
- CD Drive
If you got this far, thank-you, even if you don't know what is causing my dilamma! I'm glad you've read this far, and are interested in others problems!
