The above shameful attention grabber was one of the innumerable search terms that could be located in the logs that AOL publicly posted for research purposes. While the 658,000 users' logins and IP were not included as part of the 3 month sample, the nature of some of the data is very sensitive. With such a large data sample, it's not possible to assure the anonymity of included users.

AOL's CTO has resigned over this incident. Personally I think this wasn't really called for. But on the other hand, screw him and screw AOL.
