IP address problems

I am having trouble getting online (I am on work computer now). I have Linksys wireless, AOL Broadband w/WINDOWS XP Home. But the problem seems to be my IP address. When I try to logon, after about 2 minutes (if at all) an empty MSN (my opening webpage) page appears, but nothing works on it. I checked my connection and it shows I am connected and sending and recieving info. I right ckick my wireless ICON on my desktop toolbar and click repair. It stops at the first thing (renewing IP Address) then says it cannot renew address (or verify, something like that). Anyway, I check my broadband properties and it shows my IP address and default, but when I go to "run", type "ipconfig", it shows both lines blank (000.0.00.0.0, something like that). It is possible I may have erased a file that may have caused this problem. Any help??

Thanks

If you look in the instrauction manual that came with your router it should tell you what the routers IP Address is. If it is something like "192.168.1.1" then go to your network properties in your computer and try setting the computer to manual assigning of Ip Addresses then manual assing the aIP yourself.

So your PC would be set like this -

IP ADDRESS > 192.168.1.2
SUBNET MASK > 255.255.255.0
DNS Server > 192.168.1.1

If you get the drift.

Hope that helps dude

Chris.
