Wireless network help

i have a bt voyager wirless router (voyager2091) and using belkin wireless g desktop network card, it has installed properly but keeps disconnecting from internet and showing no connection. i have to go to network connections, and select router then select country from list(on belkin connection utility) and then click connect in settings. i have it marked to let windows automatically connect, when connected signal strength 54mbps. tried belkin technical support but all they do is get you to uninstall and then re install. i have been trying for weeks, but problem on going.........please helpÂÂ!ÂÂ! ??? ???

Re: Wireless network help

I'm afraid this sounds suspiciously like a fault in the configuration software. In Belkin's defence, it's probably not the configuration utility itself, but some other software incompatibility or Windows damage.

I'm fairly certain this wont help, but it's worth a shot anyway. Open up the Services console (click Start, Run and type services.msc), then scroll down to Windows Wireless Zero Config and ensure the Status is Stopped and the Startup Type is Disabled. If this isn't the case, double click on the service and change the Startup Type to Disabled, then reboot.

Re: Wireless network help

Let's try this from the beginning. First, let me confirm your network mapping. Does this look right:

{ Internet } <-- (BT) <-- Broadband connection --> ( Voyager 2091 Router ) <-- Wireless LAN --> ( Belkin Wi-Fi card ) --> { Your PC }

The red region (wireless connection) is where you believe the problem lies.

If this appears accurate, when you configured your router for wireless, did you:
  • Change the route login from default?
  • Change the SSID to something other than default?
  • Enabled wireless encryption, either WEP or WPA?
  • Recently ensure your system was free of malware?
  • Install the Belkin software without incident?

...and finally, this may be entirely circumstantial, but it would be a good idea to provide this information:
  • Basic system specifications
  • Any issues you have experienced prior to this one
  • Any recent hardware/software installations/uninstallations
