Re: Netgear fe 104 install

What steps have you taken so far?

You say you have internet from one PC; did you configure it already?

Re: Netgear fe 104 install

Have you tried different ports on the router?
Also, can you get internet access on either of the two PCs but not simultaneously or is it the same one that always fails to work?

Re: Netgear fe 104 install

yeah ive tried using the different ports etc ive made sure they are the same type cables and all that type thing no matter what though i just cant get them both to run the internet at same time if i unplug one and try it then whichever is plugged in will work and vice versa just not both together.

let me list a few things it might help

im using 3 times straight network cables ie Cat 5E UTP Network Cable with RJ45 ends

im taking one from the cable modem (NTL WORLD) to the router port marked link/rx then im taking one from port one of the router to pc 1 and same with pc 2 im doing this with everything powered down.

i first power the cable modem and let it obtain the info it needs to work i then boot up both pc's and like mentioned one will have the net and the other not.

Re: Netgear fe 104 install

I have the exact the same setup!
In the bottom right hand corner next to the clock do you see the Network Connections icon (its the thing that looks like two small screens)?

Re: Netgear fe 104 install

I had the very same problem when setting initially.
It seemed to happen whenever the modem lost power also.

Here's what I did to fix it-
Firstly, you can try right clicking the icon and selecting "Repair" or something like that.
If that fails which it most likely will then leave the Modem and Router powered on and turn off the problem PC for a while, when you turn it back on everything should be fine.

One time I had to leave the PC off for hours but every other time 10 mins worked!
I think the problem occurs as a result of trying to find an ip address or something.
