WIRELESS CONNECTION

hi all,
I am speaking as a complete novice so would appreciate some help regarding connecting to the internet via a wireless connection. If possible could you submit any help in the most basic and simple of terms so as not too confuse this hapless soul.
I have my pc in an office bedroom upstairs and i am currently running a telephone extension wire from my main BT socket up the stairs and plugging into my speedtouch ADSL modem which is in turn plugged into the USB port on my computer.
I would like to know what i should be looking to buy to be able to get rid of this extension lead and still be able to connect to the internet. My ISP is WANADOO if that helps at all? My connection speed is 2.2 Mbps.
I would obviously like to be able to connect without losing any speed or overall performance.
Any help would be gratefully recieved.
Many thanks.

Re: WIRELESS CONNECTION

Hi

The easiest way would to buy a ADSL Modem with built in wireless router, You will also need to buy some form of wireless receiver for each computer you wish to connect to your network... This could either be one that slots inside your computer (which is recommended) or you could use a USB adapter.

With the router, once its set up fully, you just plug a telephone line into it, and a power line into it, and your wireless.

Your looking at atleast £50, probably more. Ebay seems the cheapest place for these?

Good luck

Re: WIRELESS CONNECTION

U could run a telphone extension cable up the outside of the building and fit a BT socket on the wall in your office, save the expense of a wireless router and adaptor? The job is quite easy and only needs a £10 extension kit and a long drill bit?
