Help getting wireless connection with the new pc
Good day all
Yesterday I have purchased a new laptop. I am trying to log in to the wireless router that I have at home. I am using a password in the router and having no problem using it with other wireless pc. With the new one he does not letting me connect (I have been getting an error box he ' it is shown in the file I have added here)' even due I am using the right password. I tried many times and changed definitions but nothing prevents this password. Does anybody knows it, how to get it of the way? I will appreciate any help |

Re: Help getting wireless connection with the new pc
Hi shonsig,
I recently had a similar problem when a wireless card I used was a different make to the Wireless AP. Try typing in the Hex key for the router instead of the passphrase, you may find that it's being converted differently. What make / model is the existing AP and wireless card in the other machine, and what about the wireless card in the laptop? Cheers, Ad |

Re: Help getting wireless connection with the new pc
Well my router is: Belkin Wireless Pre-N router
My card of wireless in the Laptop Intel ( R ) PRO/ Wireless 2200BG Network Connection. Well I am sorry, I don't know very well some of the fraises you used. "Hex key" "AP" "Pass phrase", Could you explain them to me? After researching for hours I think (but not sure) it is related to the fact that my router is coding in WPA-PSK and the laptop (I think) is coding in WEP. I have been trying to find a way to change the WEP into WPA-SPK. But I can't seem to find a way to do it or even make sure that this is the problem. I will appreciate your help if any one can |

Re: Help getting wireless connection with the new pc
Hello shonsig,
AP = Access Point... Pass Phrase = your password you want to use Hex code = <a href="http://www.kingsley-hughes.com/pc-zo.../wep.asp">Read This Click Here</a> If i were you i would switch off all wep for the time being and start your connection without security. This will be fine for setup and checking that your hardware is working. So delete your existing connection in windows and start agan. After you have done this bypass windows software it is terrible. Use this instread if you only have 3 or less connections then it is free. <a href="http://www.lucidlink.com/Product_Inf...ser_full.asp"> This is the software click here and download it</a> Run and install the Wireless Client version. This software runs on your wireless laptop or PC, and provides secure connectivity to the network Ok now search out in your router - log into the web browser by reading the manual. It should be something like this type in your browser 192.168.1.1 and press enter. In the browser of your AP (access point) try and see what options you have and swith on WEP not WPA-PSK. Type in a 13 letter password. 13 letters is 128 bit encription windows does not like 26 letter 256bit encription. So save and exit. Now start up Lucid Link a box will appear. Type in your 13 letter password in the box save and connect. Hope this helps you out try to avoid 256bit.

Re: Help getting wireless connection with the new pc
Thank
It seems it was some drivers that could be downloaded with the SP2 pack Windows. It had updated the ability of using WPA (that was the problem) That has solved this problem that I had. So in the mean time, thank you very much Loz and adaytay. ![]() |
