Re: IP address

Hi cabose.

First i would try and write to the site and tell them the situation AGAIN. Explaining that u use a network and 1 member did this.

Ok here is a good site for proxy explination and use http://www.publicproxyservers.com/index.html

remember that you must use an anonymous Proxy or your ip will still be logged and u will still be banned. Also remember that some proxy servers are what you might call **** so be careful choose carfully. I would pay for a proxy service for security reasons but there are plenty of free software and services on the net just read this article http://www.publicproxyservers.com/index.html then go to google and type Free Anonymous Proxy Servers

Re: IP address

thanks for the quick reply cooper! so if i used one of those proxy things (sorry i can't remember the propper name) when i try log on to gamertag pics i will not have an ip address so i will be able to log on to it? if some websites or forums can't log my ip will they let me post? and finally will my ip just be hidden or does my ip address keep changing?

Re: IP address

You always have an IP address. lets say your ISP has assigned you the Ip 100.100.29.89 port 80

By using a proxy server you do not change the orig IP address you mask and hop it to a different one the IP of the Proxy for example 789.234.23.32 port 8080

So gamertag sees only the IP forwarded by the proxy.

So diagram -- Your orig IP >>>>> forwarded to Proxy server >>> proxy server IP forwarded to >>>> gamertag

gamer tag sees proxy server Ip no yours. So the IP registered is the IP that is logged ie The proxy servers.

This only works if you are using a truly anon Proxy server. You can check this online. just search anon IP proxy server checker.

But using a proxy server does slow your connection down. If the proxy is only using a 56K conection then you will only transfer at the proxy speed and not your own speed. So they can be very slow. also your information is passing through another computer.

I give you this information for internet security. If you do not know what you are doing do not try and use this system for anything illegal as a trace back can be called and you CAN BE FOUND. But its good practice to protect you from hackers.

Re: IP address

Why does everyone think i am a hacker!?!?!?!

Sorry to be a totaly n00b but with the proxy server can you get a dynamic one? - i dont know if this is the correct term but i want the ip address to keep changing - so it masks your ip address and gives a new one say every 10 minutes or something.

also i play xbox live and have a rooter, will this affect either of them?

thanks,

cabose

Re: IP address

Everybody thinks you are a hacker because of the questions you are asking.
You are asking about IP masking. Hotspots for backdoor entry to the internet using a cloak system.. Hmm sounds like hacking 2 me.

just look at your last question

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry to be a totaly n00b but with the proxy server can you get a dynamic one? - i dont know if this is the correct term but i want the ip address to keep changing - so it masks your ip address and gives a new one say every 10 minutes or something.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Now WHY DO YOU WANT A DYNAMIC PROXY? For general internet use to LOG ONTO A SITE THAT U ARE BANNED FROM a normal proxy is enough. NO you want a dynamic proxy for something that is not RIGHT or legal. OR to SPAM , HACK , FLAME or Bomb a site.
If you are looking for this information i am sorry i wont tell you. If you give me a good logical reason for this question maybe i will help Cooper

Re: IP address

A Proxy should not cause a problem with your XBOX Live but it will cause a very serious slowdown in connection speed so i would swap the proxy back to normal when you use it. iprivacytools.com/
Is like a 1000nd other IP hiding software’s on the market and should be ok. As for getting banned on forums you do not need a DYNAMIC IP for this. Maybe you are not a hacker (well you are not) but the questions you are asking are the questions a want to be hacker would ask. Also why do your friends get banned it’s either for
Flaming Spamming ads. ETC. so they do not deserve to be on forums anyway. Maybe you should control your friends when they are using YOUR Network. Just a thought!

Re: IP address

no they dont spam they just get in to arguments with the wrong people (moderators) there very strong minded! i can't stop them either because we all pay equal ammount for the broadband.

with the proxy server that i mentioned before you can turn it on and off realy easy right? so i can have ym connection back to full speed. also when my PC is off there will be no proxy server right?

thanks for your help by the way

Re: IP address

Cabose if you are using a broadband router then software will not work. You will have to set the proxy server settings by hand in the routers software. I sent you a PM.
