Unhappy My computer starts up for a couple of seconds then it turns itself off

PLEASE READ I NEED YOUR HELP!!!
Hello,
I tried to build my computer...and i had everything conncted cpu(intel Pentium D W/fan), HDD, MOBO (abit fatal1ty) Graphics Card (ATI Radeon x1650pro 512mb) Power supply (500W) DVD ROM (samsung Spinpoint) i connected all them, then flicked the power supply.
The Fans started going the the case lit up with the leds, but, the screen was blank and after 10 seconds the computer turned itself off.
I disconnected all the components except the mobo, cpu, graphics card, powersupply. Then i turned on the powerunit and this time the bios menu came up, but after a few seconds the power went again.
Iv checked all the wires countless amount of times but no luck. I badly need help. Wat could be the problem, is the motherboard Falty?

Sounds like it's power related, maybe a faulty PSU. What make/model is the PSU?

try running it with just the mobo.psu.cpu,graphics card, ram and a hdd.sounds like it could be touching the metal case causing it to out circuit sort of thing and start up on its own.How is the mobo abit faulty.Thats proberly the problem. If not then it must be the ram which is faulty or the board ram slots which are faulty or the power supply
