Does the Asus A8N-E support Athlon 64 X2?
Hi,
Earlier this year my motherboard blew out and I had to replace it quickly at little expense so I bought an Asus A8N-E m/board with an Athlon 64 3000+ CPU. Today I've noticed that the prices of Athlon processors has plummeted recently and you can get Athlon 64 4000s for just over £100. I also noticed that an Athlon 64 X2 4600 was selling for £140 and I was interested in that. Unfortunately, the manual for my m/board does not mention anything about supporting the X2 chips, instead just mentioning support for Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 FX. However, a couple of websites have my m/board listed and state that it does in fact support the X2 chips and so I was wondering if anyone could here could positively confirm that an Athlon 64 X2 chip will work with my motherboard? Thanks very much in advance for your help! Last edited by Nstar3x2 : 23/10/06 at 06:58. Reason: Needed to fix a mistake |
