Re: asus p5wd2

The P5WD2 uses Intel’s i955 chipset (the W is for Wyloway, the codename of that chipset.) I have had the pleasure of testing that motherboard, and I can confirm that at this stage, despite early rumblings of such a thing, it does not officially support NVIDIA SLI. This is up to NVIDIA; and apparently you can use old Forceware drivers to get SLI working. I never managed to confirm this however. As for Crossfire, we’ve yet to see whether that will work or not as well.

As I understand it, Intel was “working with NVIDIA and ATI” to get SLI working on the 955 chipset, but it’s not yet materialized. The motherboard actually ships with an flexible SLI connector though.

At the moment, the board works with one slot in x16 and one slot in x4 mode. For definite SLI support, get a motherboard based on the nForce 4 SLI chipset, such as the ASUS A8N-SLI or P5ND2.
