Case front panel wiring

Mornin!
I have a PC/CHIPS Socket A motherboard (model number M811/VIA) which I am putting into an ICE BOX case. There is a small panel on the front of the case with audio ports and 2 usb ports. Inside the case there are 2 sets of wires that come from the back of that panel. The first set of wires,8 in number, has small black connectors on them marked VCC, 1+D, 1-D, GRD, VCC, 2+D, 2-D, GRD.ÂÂ! The second set of wires,5 in number, are marked MC POWER, MIC IN, GRD, L-OUT L-RET, R-OUT R-RET.
I understand that one set of wires are for the audio and the other for the USB. What I can`t figure out is where on the motherboard these wires should go. The manual that came with the motherboard makes no mention of these wires.
Can anyoneÂÂ! tell me where these wires go on the board. And what do the letters VCC and 1+D etc etc stand for.ÂÂ! ???
Regards
Tich

Re: Case front panel wiring

The USB cables plug into standard 9-pin USB headers, usually blue but sometimes yellow.

Blue USB Headers

Each header has 2 sets of 4 pins; Voltage, Data In/Out and Ground. The 9th pin is for cable shielding, and not necessary.

The wiring order is (starting furtherest from the single 9th pin)
VCC, 2-D, 2+D, GND
VCC, 1-D, 1+D, GND
The GND (Ground) connect closest to the 9th/d pin. It doesn't matter which VCC or GND you use for those pins, neither does it matter whether port 1 or 2 are above or bellow. You need to make doubley sure that the GND and VCC pins are theÂÂ! correct way around, or you will kill any USB device plugged in. If - and + are the wrong way around, it will simply not work.

Audio headers are a little more tricky, and for a host of reasons, I don't recommend connecting them.
