how do i copy windows???

Hi, can someone please give me some help, this one's pretty urgent...

My master hard drive is having persistent power failures. This causes the pc to freeze sometimes, and at other times the drive won't even boot up windows. This is happening all the time at the moment, its taken over 2 hours for me to get the pc working well enough for me to post this!

I've just put another smaller hard drive in the computer. So, I want to copy most of the contents of the master drive to this second drive. I'm mainly interested in copying the Windows folder, so that I can save all my configurations, etc. I've tried clicking and dragging, copying and pasting, but its not working - there are some files that are being used by the system and so can't be copied.

So, does anyone know how I can get around this? Using DOS maybe? If DOS is the answer, can you talk me through the process step by step - i'm not at all familiar with DOS.

Any and all replies would be so greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
aa2239
