Formatting my windows xp pc

Hi there.

I need help. I recently tried to wipe my pc and used the enclosed system discs to re-insatall windows. However, all this has done is simply copy windos on top of what was already there. Thus all my data etc is still on my pc but I can't acess it. My hard drive however is saying its nearly full!

Can someone please help me by telling me how rto format my pc, wipe my hard drive, without using the discs supplier which are rubbish. Cheers.

hey there, looks like you instaled wrong, if you put the disk in and run setup, make sure you click new install not upgrade, then that will wipe your hard drive, it will copy some files, then when it restarts it will come up in DOS mode, move down to partition, most likely c:/(drive size) press enter on it, it will say something like "there is already a OS installed on this drive do you wish windows to overwrite it", it will tell you to press L to continue, press L and then it will ask you to format, press format NTFS, probably best doing the normal one NOT the NTFS (quick), ok, it should format and then just follow the on sceen instructions, need anymore help lets us know
