Windows XP Boot Screen

Hi all, I recently installed XP Pro SP2 on a second hard drive and noticed on bootup it simply displays "Windows XP". With my old service pack 1 hard drive It Displays "Windows XP Professional" does anyone know of a way to display "Windows XP Professional" on the service pack 2 drive. I realise this is not really a problem but I would prefer to see the old boot screen. Just being picky thats all lol. Thanks.

Re: Windows XP Boot Screen

Hi and welcome to the forum,

In SP2 Microsoft removed some stuff from the boot screen, in addition to there being no designation of "Home" or "Professional" you should also notice the removal of the copyright info at the bottom of the screen. There is no way I know of to restore it to the way it was save uninstalling SP2 which I wouldn't recommend.
So your stuck with it :P

You might also note the little loading bar(s) changed color from SP1 to SP2. In SP1 they are green, once you update they are blue!

Re: Windows XP Boot Screen

Hi guys n gals, there is actually a way to change ur boot screens wid a program called tune up utillities, it is a program which allows u to make ur own custom boot screens and ur own custom logon screens, i suppose u cud download the old xp bootscreen if u wanted and set it as a bootscreen, this program can be downloaded from www.tune-up.com the program also does repairing of ur registry and speeds up ur comp. this is only a 30 day trial though but you can purchase if u wish. thx 4 readin

I hope you're not going to tell everyone the answer to their problems is crapware.

In the end, you'll just be making more work for us when it screws up their Windows installation.

Re: Windows XP Boot Screen

My opinion is an educated one. I know what I am talking about

Any program that claims to speed up a PC through registry "repair" or optimisation...well...heh...it's crapware.
