Windows XP boot problem
This was sent to me by beecon me as a message, so I'm putting it here instead.
_________________________________________________ Hi! I have a problem with my computer.. It will suddenly reboot without any warning... After the Windows XP logo loading, it reboots over and over again. I cannot even get into my desktop to fix it. I don't know what causes this problem. All i did to fix it was to reformatt my hard disk again.. but i dont want it to be that way always.. it happens a couple of times already.. and a couple of times too i reformat my hard disk.. i'm so annoyed since my files were not backed up.. can you suggest what are the precautions to prevent such problem? what could be the possible reasons why my pc behave that way? please give me tips to stop my pc from behaving that again... thanks a lot.. Re: Windows XP boot problem
Has he tried booting in safe mode? Or has he tried repairing XP by booting with the original OS disk? If you can boot to safe mode, it's more than likely not a hardware problem.

Re: Windows XP boot problem
Deep Freeze? What's that? You could still try a Windows recovery using the OS CD if you have it. Just boot to the CD and it will give you the option to press "R" for Repair once it's loaded. That might solve the problem if it's caused by missing files or data corruption. If it's a hardware problem though you might just have to replace w/e is causing it.

Easy way to Reinstal and save your data
I dont know the answer to the Reboot question.
However, if you reformat again, make 3 Partitions. 1. O/S 2. Data 3. Pagefile Go to the Software you have installed > Preferences/Options Change the Default SAVE from whatever [usualy My Docs] to Partition Data Do the same for RECOVERY/AUTORECOVERY files too. If you use Outlook or Outlook Exp Do the same so you do not have Email loss. On the 3rd Partition [small one] Move Pagefile destination to here Put nothing else into this partition Pagefiles will never suffer from competing with anything else also, Pagefiles will not suffer from excessive Defragmentation caused by day to day use. * Defragmentation, or rather the lack of it, must account for millions of memory upgrades |
