Re: key code

I don't understand... If you reformat Windows XP, it shouldn't ask for another keycode at all. + A License costs a fair bit of money for XP, good luck getting one free... :-\

if you have the original key that came with your pc or xp disk when you try and activate it and it fails you can still get it activated click on the telephone option and it gives you the number to contact for your area.

on screen you will see a product code you have to input into your phone when prompted this should sort it if not it will put you through to a an advisor who will ask you a few questions and give you a new product id to input this should sort it.

I think he reformatted his hard disk and once you reformat, its good as going back to step one.. its like a brand new.. the step of activating windows is so easy..

Re: key code

I agree, use there telephone option and re-activate through that. I just did this ~3 days ago with my GF's computer after re-installing XP (new motherboard). If the automated system says you can't do it, talk to an actual customer representative and explain what you did. As long as it's the SAME computer, they will give you a new key. I've done it this way as well, and the lady read me off a new key since it was the same HDD and PC.
