Installing an operating system

Can anyone give me an idiots guide on how to intall operating system on a new computer. I have bought one from ebay (newly built). Not sure how computer will be set to start up when I switch it on. I have bought xp home from local computer shop but not sure exactly how to install. Any help welcome thanks. Poppy1 x ???

If you have a brand new system then It couldn't be easier.

Power-up the computer, insert the disc, follow the on screen instructions.

Just as midimoto said follow put the CD in the tray and start er up. Follow the instructions and you are all set. Be sure to up go Windows Update for the latest patches, and do not forget firewall and anti-virus.

Also please, change your font colour...it is unreadable.
