Booting Problem
When i start windows and login, 2 things are happening.
1.) The windows security center is always poping up a little bubble saying norton is turned off, and then, after norton loads (it loads last, i dont know if this is bad, if it is, can someone tell me how to fix it), it goes away. 2.) Logging in is very slow, when I start my computer and log in, it takes FOREVER to load. I have already checked for any spyware/viruses, and i also do this sort of check regularly. I have already went into msconfig and tried to disable every starting program i dont need (there is a few that i need), but it is still taking too long. I run windows xp with: AMD Sempheron Processor 512MB OCZ 333MHZ Ram 80GB HD and the other usual onboard yadayada any help would be apreciated, Jeff Brown |

Re: Booting Problem
To get rid of the annoying Security Center warning messages, go into the Control Panel and open the Security Center. On the left click Change the way the Security Center alerts me Uncheck the Virus Protection box
You log-on performance issue can be a result of several things:
For the first possibility, you can try using the System Configuration Utility to disable startup programs and see if it makes a difference. You can open the System Configuration Utility by clicking Start, Run and entering msconfig. On the Startup tab, click Disable All and reboot. If this improves your logon time, we know it is a program’s fault. Unfortunately there is no easy way to tell which application is causing you problems. If your issue is related to Windows prefetch performance, you can download Microsoft BootVis (Microsoft removed BootVis from their site a while ago, but an older version can still be downloaded here.) to optimise the layout file. I can’t provide you with a tutorial on using BootVis, because it’d take a lot of time. Google should be able to help you out there. |

Re: Booting Problem
For the logging in being very slow!
have you make a lot of changes to the CMOS- setting?if so the computer will not boot pro[perly anyway, therefore after switching on you computer you can bypass the exended CMOS settng by holding down ctrl+Alt+Del keys. alternatively using advanced setting of CMOS/BIOS Have you changed the Boot sequence from the BIOS/CMOS from "Cc:then A:" or it uses "A:thenCc:" The former is recommended for faster boot sequence and protect you PC from one booting up you computer using floppy disk |
