How to start automatically with the same user?

Hi,

I share my laptop with 2 other people but they rarely use it. I would like my settings to appear rather than choosing the user each time I turn it on... Sure there is a way to have it done without interfering!

Hello Ofreeb.

The only way i can think of doing what you want is this:-

Click Start, click Run, and type control userpasswords2. >>
This is a shortcut instead of having to click on Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts.

Uncheck the "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" check box.
Click Apply.

Enter the user name and password you wish to automatically log on with, and then click OK.

Click OK again and you're all done.

This feature allows other users to start your computer and use the account that you establish to automatically log on. Enabling auto logon makes your computer more convenient to use, but can pose a security risk since anyone can just turn the machine on and access your files.

I would suggest using the PC for your use only if you choose this system.

I cant think at the moment of another way around this but if i do i will post the idea here Loz

Hi Loz,

Thanks for your time but I do not understand this bit: RUN. What shall I type in here?

I've tried the User Accounts way but I cannot find this check box "username & password"; maybe because none of the users have a password set up?
