Post windows vista

I'm thinking about updating my computer to windows vista. Some of my mates tell me it's rubbish and to stick with windows XP. I would like a few more ideas on what people think that have used it, to give me a better idea.

It depends, really. The big determiner for you should be your computer - is it capable of running Vista?
  • If your computer has a single core-processor, Vista may well be sluggish.
  • If it has 1GB (1024MB) RAM or less, Vista will run like an old bus.
  • If your computer has an old graphics adapter, you may not be able to run the Aero theme.
If your computer is better than that (and most computers aren't, to be honest), then Vista may well be OK for you. However, there isn't a great deal to differentiate Vista from XP at the moment, outside of themes and DirectX 10 support for those who play the latest games. Furthermore, Vista is pretty expensive.

I guess the real question is:

Have you got a good reason to "upgrade"?

I agree. If you don't have a good reason to upgrade, don't waste your money.

I personally prefer XP to Vista.
