I have a Lenovo Laptop, with Vista Home basic preloaded, i bought a month back

The Problem is It takes more than 10 minutes for the system to start right from booting to show up the desktop.

My harware config are 512 MB RAM, Intel P4 Processor, 80 Gig of memory..

Please help me make the syetem faster.

The core of the problem is probably that the notebook simply does not process the power to run Vista properly.

You could try upgrading to 1 GB of RAM; 512 MB is really the lower limit of Vista. Also, try uninstalling some of those big memory hogging applications that get bundled with the system, such as Norton Internet Security (replace it with AVG for example). Ensure Vista is up to date in terms of patches. Run a scan disk and a defrag (this wont really help much, but it's pretty much the first thing people will tell you to do).

Try to avoid using performance enhancing software; they rarely actually do anything for you and often make things worse.
