I have both and at the moment I wish I just had XP. Lots and lots of Vista bugs. Completely diffrent to use, takes ages to get used to...
My oppinion anyway. When they bring out more patches it will be better.

I am pritty clue-ed up now with it........................
The vista side bar has always been there (not always been there but you know what i mean i hope), since they made it (apperently anyway) i very much doubt that MS will improve it, as they are already working on getting it more secure, SP1 has already been released hasn't it?
Vista is pritty stable to my understandings, so i dont really know why they want exstra time to make it more stable. I think vista will be a good thing for microsoft, will make them millions and i recon by 2012 it will have taken up most of the market over XP Cheers Computwiz |

I've heard that from someone else but I can't find it on Windows Update. If you can see a page on the Microsoft website please link me to it!

Depends on your hardware really
After using Vista since beta 2, using XP feels like hitching a dairy cow to an ox cart. Windows XP seems to have obvious problems with >2GB RAM, in terms of the lengthy amount of time it seems to spend caching for no particular reason. Not to mention Windows XP seems to have %15~20 load bias for >1 processor cores. Sure it doesn't benchmark as well, but in general, the responsiveness is considerably improved. Having said that, most people are better off with XP, as Vista does take a little commitment at this stage. Most of the opinion out there, especially in the media, seems pretty negative and ill informed (a lot seems to come from people who never used it, or can't). I read (lets say, picked up briefly then threw down in disgust) one of those PC magazines a few months ago. There was an article in there where they detailed how you can "turn Windows XP into Windows Vista" with a few bits of third party software. Not only was it full of stupid, stupid advice such as simulating ReadyBoost by putting the page file on a flash drive (close, but no cigar.), I've seen the results of someone trying their nonsense. The result; system ran like a dog. Surprise surprise, there's more to Vista than a UI update. To be honest, I jumped on it early because I didn't want to be one of those "experts" who stagnate on old technology and refuse to change ![]() |
