Broken screen, need to access info on H/D

Hi, I bought an HP Pavilion laptop about a year ago, it's the worst £900 I've ever spent in my entire life, nothing but problems with it ! Anyway the screen is now broken (my fault) !

Is there any way I can link the laptop up to another computer monitor so I can access the HP hard drive and back up some information on the drive ?

If not can I take the H/D out and link it up to another computer to get the info ?

yes you can connect it to another monitor or a tv. check the ports on your laptop and see what ports you have (usally vga). then find a tv with vga aswell and there you go. also can you not see anything a tall? if you can try and boot into safe mode it may be your drivers

Actually theres no activity from the laptop at all the H/D is intact but the laptop is permenantly damaged, it looks as though I'll need to take out the H/D and get the info !

What are my options there ?
