Laptop Recovery Disk - Computer Forum

Hi I was just wondering when you use the recovery disk on a laptop, does it Format the HDD and delete everything, before putting windows back on

Yes, usually it does.

You will probably find when you put the CD in it will give you a few options. One of them may be do a repair installation. This should not wipe your computer.

Having said all this, you should still make sure you BACKUP all important files etc on your computer before you do anything.
