Laptop battery problem

Hi everyone I've got a very big problem well I think anyway, basically I have Acer Aspire 1650, the problem is whenever I start the laptop with the battery in when it gets to the windows xp login screen the laptop keyboard and mouse don't work, and sometimes when they do work the batterty doesn't charge it just stays at 3% charge. When I take the battery out and use AC power mains everything is normal. It might just be a faulty battery. But can someone please help much appreciated thank you for your help.

Hi mba788,

I also have a laptop and know for sure that if your battery is less than say 10% it will go into hibernation mode until you supply your laptop with a mains power supply. Once connected to the mains your laptop will be at the same status when it powered off and if it was left longer until all power was used on battery all work would be lost if it wasn't saved.

The upshot is that when you connect the mains to your laptop you should steadily see the battery icon on your task bar increasing in charge 3%, 10% and gradually to 100%. If however your battery stays at 3% then it means that although connected to the mains the battery isn't getting charged.

The cheapest battery i could find for this laptop is £41.84 + £4.00 pp at Replacement Batteries & Accessories for bt-t5005-002
