I had my Compaq labtop for more than a year, and it's Window XP Version, my question is why does my labtop shut down after half an hour or so when playing a full screen game I downloaded? Thanks.

Most laptops have overheating problems, especially when gaming. You may want to monitor your temperatures and be sure it's not cooking under the hood.

Does the laptop instantly shutoff, or does it go through the entire shutdown sequence? Any warnings or errors?

That used to happen to me when i had my laptop. When i used to play games onit i did not used to cut off but i froze.
How i solved this. i put a cup mat under each ege of the laptop so the air flow could be better.
