My brother has a new laptop and has a radion x300 graphic card installed. Just wondering can you upgrade a graphic card in a laptop..

I have no idea and any help would be appreciated...

Re: Upgrade..

In theory it is possible if you can find a card that will fit. Right size right connections etc. But in actuality it is not advisable because laptops are small and the components are packed tightly together. Laptops are considerably harder to upgrade than desktop computers. Usually each Laptop manufacturer sets out their hardware location differently. I guess that this is to stop people from swapping components and force laptop users to upgrade to the latest greatest laptop on the market. So my advice would be if its not good enough anymore upgrade unless you really know what you are doing!
But check with your manufacturer on some cards there is a free memory slot so you can upgrade the memory on the card like: - 128mb to 256 this is an option

Re: Upgrade..

Dedicated graphics processors like the Mobility Radeon X300 are usually BGA (Ball Grid Array) packages, fused to the motherboard. Equally, memory for them will be either TSOP (Thin Small-Outline Package) or BGA. Some motherboard designs have modular packaging, but require technicians certified by the specific manufacturer to perform the upgrade. You can guarantee that the cost of such an operation would bankrupt a small country.
