wifi cuts out after few minutes

Hi,
i have a laptop which i recently bought a wireless modem card for and it detects signals within range and connects to them ok but cuts out after a few minutes. i have tried it at home (using neighbours unprotected network) and recently in an internet cafe. at home the signal is always low but in the cafe it was on full bars but still kept cutting out. when i switched off the computer and back on again it would work again but still only for a few minutes. when i go to look at the status it says firewalled. is there something i have to disable on my firewall (standard windows) for it to work continously?

What you are doing is illegal. You cannot connect to your neighbors internet without there permission and the permission of there ISP (they could get charged for providing ISP services for free etc.) So, sorry I can't really help you do things that are illegal.

In brief, you are porbably being disconnected due to a low signal. At the cafe, you probably do not have there correct settings as far as connecting goes, leeching there will get your IP/MAC banned if they find out.

thanks for the reply. didn't know it was illegal i thought people just left it without a password if they didn't mind others using it. have broadband at home so i suppose i'll have to get something to send out the signal. in the internet cafe it was full signal. my computer picked up on it straight away and signed on no trouble but went off between 5 and ten minutes. we tried rebooting my computer and the same thing happened. they even restarted it at their end but no luck.
any ideas?

Accessing networks without permission is very HIGHLY illegal...

Look in the instruction book for your wireless modem.. It should tell you what to change on your firewall settings.. ?
