LAptop entering problem

HI Everybody,

Purchased a second hand laptop from an ex HP employee but couldnot enter into the system because whenever tried to enter a login screen comes which shows the username of seller with its domain and password field. tried lot of combination but failed. can any1 help me out. I would even like to format the hardisk same. No data is useful.

I cant enter into any operating system also. Probably getting price o fbuying a second hand cheap laptop.

Operating system is Windows 2000 and model is compaq presagnio. the seller used to use it in HP for official purpose. Now he has left the company and sold whatever he has and gone back to his own country Pakistan. I cant contact him for password.

I m ready to format or anything. My main want is to start working on it at any cost.

Awaiting Help
Pondy

You won't need to go into the operating system to format it. But I do hope you know, that once you format the harddrive, you won't have an operating system anymore. Hopefully you have a legit copy of Windows 2000 or whatever you want to use, and a CD Key, that way you can re-install it.

Download that ^ and put the appropriate files on a floppy (it must be bootable). Boot that, and run "wdclear" an it will forma your harddrive. The .txt file and readme should explain how to do it all.

COMPUTWIZ, Im slighlty puzzled by your response. What do you mean replace the motherboard? As this will have no effect on the current problem that he is having.

Do you know what the motherboard actually does and all the other PC hardware? As if not i will explain to you.

Also somewhat confused from his response. You don't need to replace any hardware at all, the only thing you might have to "replace" is the operating system. And thats what the format does, erases the OS. Yoiu can then re-install it on the harddrive after the format providing it's got a legit CD-Key.
