Up/Down arrow
My daughter has a laptop which is giving problems with the up/down arrows when trying to read an article. When pressing either of these arrows the page moves up or down in 'waves', making it very difficult to scroll. If she inadvertently presses the arrow a number of times then she has to wait until the machine has finished before doing anything else. Any ideas please?

Re: Up/Down arrow
Hello there i guess that your daughter does not really look after her laptop not in a physical sense but in a software sense. I guess she never defrags and cleans up her computer?
I also guess that she is using windows XP a fresh repair install of XP should sort this problem out. After repair install defrag the laptop. This will take quite a time so i suggest you do it over night. Also clean up any old programmes. Any files that are not needed. You can find all or these tools in Windows...ÂÂ! >>>>>= next Go to start click it >>>>> Programs>>> accessories>>> System tools>>> then choose the system tool like Disk defragor /Disk management /disk clean up and after repair clean up using these tools. Windows repair. This is the same as the last post i just made... We are going to reistall windows so we start with these steps. Back up your data first It is recommend that you back up any critical data before you repair/reinstall windows XP as there is always a small possibility that this procedure may render your computer unbootable. Configure your BIOS You will need to boot off your XP CD so you may have to change your boot/startup sequence first before you start as most PC's boot to the HDD First. Switch on your computer and enter the BIOS/Setup by pressing DEL or F2 or F10 (it usually says on the screen). (Change the boot order to boot from the CD first (how to do this is dependent on your BIOS) Insert Windows XP CD. Save changes and restart computer. If prompted press any key to boot from CD. Repairing XP Once you get to the Welcome to Setup screen, press enter. then Press F8 to agree with the licensing agreement. It will then say searching for previous windows installation. Your Windows installation should now be listed on your screen. Highlight it and press R XP will install over itself. At the first reboot, go back into BIOS and set the computer to boot from the hard drive. You may be prompted to enter CDs with drivers on. Insert these and click OK. Next choose your Regional and Language Options. These should be set already but if they aren't click Customize and/or Details and make any necessary changes. As you have repaired Windows, there should be no drivers to install. Your files should be safe, but you should always check out device manager for unknown devices, likely items are Network Cards, Sound Cards, Printers, Scanners, Graphics Cards, Digital Cameras, plus any other item you have, you should also visit Windows Update and download all critical updates. Hope this helps Loz PS. Please tell your daughter to clean up and defrag her PC/Laptop once a week. This will greatly reduce future problems like the one she has at the moment. NB. If this does not fix the problem come back and post it here as you could have sticky keys and this is a different solution.
