Card upgrade

hi everyone

i got a used ATI Radeon 9800SE from a mate today, he says it worked before he too it out and it appears to be in very good condition

ive downloaded the ATI Catalyst 8.4 driver which says its compatable, anyone had any experiance with this driver? also i want to replace my GeForce 5200 (stop laughing and pick yourself up off the floor!) which i am currently running, but i have no idea how to go about uninstalling the old card, putting the new one in and then loading the drivers onto the system

any help would be ace

ok, update:

installed the 9600 Sapphire only to find the fan wasnt running, took it back out again and the fan is ceised so no doubt it had overheated when it was in the system before mine.

removed the fan and found that there was a shiny, metallic pastey-substance on the bottom of the fan and top of the processor on the card, so is the card dead or just a minor teething problem?

oh, BTW, i added the 9800 to the system and despite my worst fears it works perfectly, im off to play trackmania nations, Bye!
