8600GT OC on Gateway

I've got a GM5088 Gateway peice of crap and I'm trying to get a BFG Tech Geforce 8600 PCI-X card to work in it. I'm getting black screen, No BIOS when I connect to the new card. The onboard works fine mind you. I tried replacing the card, no difference. Also tried a PNY card before this one, it worked for 3 hours and black screened. Changed the Power Supply to 450W...no luck. I'm not seeing anywhere in the BIOS to disable onboard video or anything regarding PCI-X. The card is getting power (fan is spinning on powerup), but I get no beeps/flashes/video. Have called BFG and Gateway and they are useless. Only seen 1 forum post on the issue and it wasn't helpful.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

Is the motherboard PCI-E x8 or PCI-E x16?

If it's PCI-E x8, it means that PCI-E 2.0 cards will not work.
