i have just been given an HP pavilion running windows xp, the problem is that the hdd is not in too much off a good state, after the first boot screen it says that the HDD is going to fail so back up data and replace, sumin like that. i restored it as it had no disks i did this through the recovery partition.
i bought a new HDD (160 GB PATA) to replace. now we get to the story that before i replace the HDD i need to burn the recovery Partition onto a dvd so i can reinstall windows on the new hdd. As a lot of you know that some pcs that dont come with disks, the recovery console is in a partion of the HDD, i have found the program that would normally burn the partion to a dvd, i follow instruction as i would normaly but it comes up sayin that i have already burnt the partion to the disks already, obvioulsy i havent the person who owned it b4 me did. how can i get around this error and burn the disks again?? is there another program i can use or utility that will allow me to burn it to disk / copy to new HDD or even both?? Many thanks for lookin guys. |
