I Know this post is a little old but thought i would post this for anyone who's looking with the same problem.
My friend has just recently got a lap top and had the same problem with nortons not showing in add/remove etc he telephoned the support line provided with his lap top and they directed him to a website with removal tools on it for nortons and a few others so you may be best doing the same.
