changing over from vista to xp pro

recently my wife's company bought 2 new gateway's with core-duo processors and 2gb of ram.they came loaded with vista, and they want to change one of them over to xp pro,so they can use their older software that wont work with vista. Is this viable with just a reformat???or is there anything special to be done to make the change-over???

Hello again

We'll need the model number of the PC and any specific names for the parts, if you can find them - the processor will work just fine with XP Pro, but you'll need drivers for the display adapter, the chipset and the sound chip. The drivers will vary with the parts, and there may or may not be XP drivers available for them.
