No Sound

Hi All,

Hope someone can help.

The sound is not working on my PC and I am not sure why.

My cousin recently stayed with me and the PC was in her room, its got all sorts on it now and I assume she may have done something to it but what is weird is that when I go to Volume control it says the device used is Bluetooth AV/HS Audio - I dont remember this being like this before and I recently installed my bluetooth dongle disk so would this have something to do with it?

Confused.

Ok, sounds like she did something to the drivers ect.
Go to
Start menu > control panel > sounds and audio devices > audio
Check what is selected for sound playback, and see if you can change it back to yours.
It may also be sound drivers. so are you using onboard or a PCI card?
if its a pci card, use a program like aida32 to find out what it is then a simple google search should get drivers (*model* drivers).
If its onboard then try going to the Makers home page and search there. Or use a Motherboard disc if you have one.
Hope this helps

lol I dont speak your language!

I have tried to change the Bluetooth AV/HS Audio but it will not show anything else in any other drop downs or let me select anything else.

I am going to try the other stuff you said.

I did download a audio driver from HP but thats not worked.

Its a HP Compaq dc7700.

How do I know if its onboard or a PCI card? Sorry to sound dumb....but I dont know.... ask me something about Egyptology or Prince2 and I might know something lol

Thanks in advance!

Talking

Hey, your not dumb, we cant know everything.
On the back of your tall pc tower(or unit/base, w/e) where do your speakers plug into? if its into a round green socket very far down, its most likely a pci card. If its more upwards, nearer to the power cable, its most likely onboard.
Try going Start menu > Control panel > system > hardware > device manager. A new window will open

Device manager > open the area called *sound and audio devices* in device manager.

Do you see any listed devices with a yellow ! or ? ?
If not, then just uninstall any devices that are called bluetooth..ect, Anything thats not a standard name, like video/audio codecs :P(by right clicking them and clicking uninstall)

then scroll up and right click the computer icon (should say the pc name) then click scan for hardware changes. After you do this and you have uninstalled the other unofficial devices, it should pick some up. Leave it on the default settings (search automatically) and it should find drivers on its own. If not just post with the device it couldn't find drivers for.

Hope this helps

For some reason, i think your drivers may have gone walk abouts but left the names there. As they do

Have you tried re-installing the drivers?

I have tried that.

There is no uninstall option when I right click - no uninstall option in device manager for any of the remaining drivers (as per the list in one of my attachments)
