Unhappy Mysterious crashing

When I try to put in a blank DVD to burn it makes my PC crash and restart.
If I don't take it out of the tray it will just keep crashing avery time it gets back to my desktop.
I discovered it while trying to burn a movie using Studio 10. When i put the DVD in the drive, I would get a message saying "waiting for compatible media to be inserted". The software is up-to-date on Studio 10 as well as both DVD drives. Bought a second DVD burner(Samsung) just to see if my first had a problem...it did the exact same thing as the first one(Plextor). Both drives take all kinds of media...which i also tried. I know it is not the movie software because it crashes even when I am just on my desktop...it does it with Nero and Roxio too. Plays games and loads software fine. Only with blank DVD's.

I have recieved a MS error message saying it was caused by a device driver. It was also called a "stop error". I do not have a gfx card(nVidia 7900GTX) driver update because then certain games dont "recognize" the video card. I have tried updating my nForce chipset but that did not help.
A Geek Squad tech-on the phone-thought it was probably rooted in the MB(A8N 32-SLI Deluxe) bios. I have not updated the bios...mostly because I don't have a floppy drive and I am not sure how to do it any way.
Any thoughts on why my PC is having problems with blank media and software is not recognising the fact that there IS "compatible media" in the tray.

Smile dvd crashes

Hi, It might be the dvd burners not being compatable with your pc and windows but this is unlikely.

Try updating the bios but if you dont have a floppy then i dont know if this is possible.

Reinstalling windows might work.. i have heard there is a way to reinstall windows media center without formatting the computer hdd (hard disk)

erm.. it could finally be the wrong drivers or out-dated drivers. try searching on google for them.

oh and Welcome To itsallpc!
