programmes not responding, anyone help?

im having problems with internet explorer, media player, and outlook express...none seem to be responding. I use firefox as my normal browser and it works fine but if iopen IE it looks for the homepage but doesnt do anything more then it stops responding if i click the connections tab in internet options. I dont kno if this is related but windows media player and outlook express dont respond either. Ive tried virus scans, spyware tools and removing unwanted files but nothing seems to work. I use XP professional, dont kno much about computers so any help wil b appreciated.

When you say explorer and outlook express are not responding do you mean they dont load ?. If thats the case then im pretty sure you have a virus.

Those 2 programmes are the first to be affected by a virus.

Hi Andy. I can only suggest that you re-format and install a fresh copy of windows. Sometimes its the only way to resolve problems like this.
