motherboard problem?

ok hi guys, here is my situation

a few days ago i removed the keyboard from the ps2 port on my computer while the pc was on......... doing so the computer crashed.ÂÂ! I turned it off and put in the new keyboard into the same ps2 port

now for some reason once i put the computer back the mouse is not working ( which is the PS2 port next to the keyboard ).

I have tried 2 different mice, one of which was a USB mouse and that still didnt work.ÂÂ! Have I done something to the motherboard by taking that keyboard out while the pc was on????

any help is appreciated, no mouse is doing my head in.... thanks guys

EDIT: I forgot to mention that even though the mouse pointer does not move, the left and right mouse buttons work fine.

its a K8T Neo 64-bit AMD motherboard with a 3000 athlon. Standard internet ps2 keyboard, 512meg ram, 80g hard drive
