Trouble with s-video
I recently purchased s video cables for my computer. I didnt have any s-video outlets in the back of my tv, but i did in my vcr, which is connected directly to my tv. I have a s-video output in the back of my computer with 7 pins(geforce 4 mx 440 video card), and i connected one end of the plugs into it, and the other end into my 4 pin s video input behind my vcr. When I turn on my computer and my tv with all of the cords connected, and my vcr power on in the right screen mode, nothing appears. When i go to my settings toolbar in the display properties box, there is only one moniter displayed, and not the two boxes i was expecting. Is this the problem? and if it is, how do i get my computer to have the two boxes when i only have one now? Please reply

Re: Trouble with s-video
all it says next to the VCR s-video cable is "S-video", and it doesnt say input or output. How do i figure out if it is an input? if it is, how do i find the corresponding channel to use with my computer?

Re: Trouble with s-video
also, i have been reading elsewhere to try and solve mt problem, and it seems that i need to have two display adapters installed for the s-video cables. One for the computer moniter, and one for the tv. When i go to my device manager, and i open my display adapters, i see my video card (geforce4 mx 440), but nothing else. From what ive read, it seems i also need to have a driver installed for my tv. If so, what driver do i need to install, and how am i supposed to install it?

Re: Trouble with s-video
Well, both statements are incorrect. The Graphics card has a TV encoder chip that basically servers as an extra "head", not as a logical unit. Also, you do not need a TV driver, Windows XP has a default INF for TV displays.
I would say your problem is that the VCR has only an S-Video output. You cannot feed video into an output. |
