Re: Disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter

Hello and welcome to the forum,

I'll try to explain this as simple as I can, let me know if you find it too complicated.
Firstly,
Enter your computer BIOS.
To do this you'll need to press a certain key at startup.
It's usually F2 or Del or something, you'll see it onscreen at startup.

When you get into this you need to look around and find your Boot Device order.
You'll need to use the keyboard in the BIOS as the mouse won't work here.
It's location is different depending on the BIOS you have but it's usually easy to find.
When you have located this make sure it is set to boot from the Hard Drive first and not the CD Drive.
Then save the changes, exit and restart.

Post back and let us know if that solved your problem or if my explaination was too complicated

Re: Disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter

Can you remember when it first started to happen?
Were you running anti virus software etc?
On the occasions when you do get into Windows did you notice anything unusual?
Your HD could well be dead but the message can be caused by other problems, such as a bad IDE cable.

Is there any CD or floppy in either drive when you are booting?

Re: Disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter

It started about a week ago odd occassions but on reboot windows was fine now it wont boot into windows at all.
No floppy or cd in computer.
I have anti virus.. Avast software which i run as well as spybot and ccleaner i also have a firewall installed. All scans came up clean when i checked just over the week ago. I do them regular. All of these have been on the p.c since i got it aprox 8 months ago none were installed previous owner .
I have defragged and disk clean up'ed in the last month. Again i do this regular.
I havent noticed anything odd when windows did boot. I have added nothing program wise onto the pc in the last 2-3 months only critical updates to window me and updated spybot etc.
Hope this may help xx caz
p.s I have just daringly opened the pc up and checked all cables are secure nothing loose, also blew some dust out..still the same message :'(

Re: Disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter

Ok, Now we need to check for Hard Disk errors.
You need to find out your HD manufacturer and go to their website to download their diagnostic tool.
Next, you'll have to burn it to a CD and boot from it to scan your HD for errors.

If you can't find your HD manufacturers name or you have problems finding the tools, post back and I'll sort it out

Re: Disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter

No problem. Thats why we're here.
Ok, I think <a href="http://support.wdc.com/download/inde...d=30">this</a> is the download page for WD HDs

Download the ISO version and burn the CD using <a href="http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/i....htm">this</a>.
It will make the CD bootable
