Re: computer wont boot up

That could be caused by a myriad of reasons.
To narrow it down you'll need to give us more detailed information.
System specs
Did you change any hardware/software before it startd happening
Have you tried booting up with just the bare minimum,HD,floppy RAM

If absolutely nothing happens when you press the power button it would seem like the board isn't
getting power from the PSU.
So, if the PSU is tested and fine like you siad then you should try making sure the power button is
connected properly to the mainboard and hasn't come loose etc.
And that the PSU is connected properly and snugly.

Post back with more info etc and we'll take it from there

Re: computer wont boot up

No beeps or fans?
Have you tried a different PSU on that PC just to be double sure.
Also, download and run a <a href="http://www.memtest.org>Memtest</a>
Get the bootable floppy version.
See if it shows up any errors in the RAM

Re: computer wont boot up

This is a friends computer he says he added no new hardware before the problem started and the computer was running when everything went dead.
I thought it might be the power switch faulty i tried shorting the switch but still nothing.
Thanks again jhad

Re: computer wont boot up

Have you tried a different PSU with it?
If that fails I'd advise getting it checked and tested at a reputable PC Repair shop.

Re: computer wont boot up

Any motherboard featuring an Intel chipset in the series of i845, i848, i865 and i875 will support a socket 478 Celeron 2.7 GHz. Additionally, there are numerous VIA and SiS chipsets; basically, anything that's socket 478 and supports 400 MHz FSB will do the trick. If you change motherboard model though, Windows re-installation will be unavoidable.

Motherboards with Intel i915 chipsets and above are typically equipped with incompatible LGA775 sockets.

Re: computer wont boot up

Yes. But I really don't think you'd understand the point of this

BIOS chip is not the same as Chipset...
