This any good?

I'm just thinking about the idea of getting a second PC.... And this cought my eye. Its perfect for the budget..

I've always used Intel but I'm willing to give AMD a go.

all I really need your hlep with is, Is this PC worth what it is for sale for?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brand-New-Semp...QQcmdZViewItem

Thankyou
TomÂÂ!

Re: This any good?

The case looks really nice.
On first look I noted that the processor speed is incorrectly listed as 2.6Ghz.
An AMD Sempron 2600+ Socket 754 has a clock speed of 1.6Ghz. Cost new is about £50

I don't like the integrated video graphics either or the fact that you have to pay extra for Windows or monitior, keyboard and mouse.
It's not a bad price overall and it does look quite cool but even for a second PC I'd get a faster processor.
My second PC is running a 2Ghz Sempron 3000+ and it does the job nicely. Browsing, burning and the odd game.
Would you not consider building your own?
Might work out cheaper!

Thats what I think anyway ;D

Re: This any good?

Ohh.. only 1.6... I thought it was a little cheap for a 2.6GHz AMD.

I would love to build my own PC, but knwoing myself id spend however many hundreds of pounds then forget to change the power setting on the PSU and explode it all...

I was looking at getting a laptop aswell... I'm really not sure... I would like a laptop so I could be wireless... but then if it gets old and slow it will be a real pain to upgrade.

I can't quite decide which I want! :-\

Re: This any good?

A 1.6Ghz AMD and a 1.6Ghz Intel are two different things.
As far as I know, the numbering after the AMD processor eg 2600, 3000 were put there to indicate
its relative performance in comparision to a similar Intel processor.
So, clock speed isn't an exact performance benchmark.

I built my first PC in Oct. Went with a desktop over laptop just because of the easiness of upgrading a desktop.
I still would like a laptop though

Re: This any good?

Ok... Ive seen this which I like... A little bit more than the other one, at £300 from eclipes computers.

AMD 3100+ 64 bit socket 754
512MB ddr 400Mhz
nVidia 128MB GeForce FX5200
Wireless network card
80GB 7200RPM HDD
DVD + / - Dual layer Burner
350W case (which IMO looks quite nice)
600W Sub + 2 smaller speakers
Keyboard + mouse.

Have an old CRT monitor so that wouldn't really be a problem, and an unused Windows XP license...

Motherboard can support 2GB of ram so theres room for improvment in the future...

What do you think?
