New to board / have question

First off, hello. I am new to this site but have a question. My wife bought a Compaq 5000t about 4 years ago. Anyway it toasted, she had an extended warranty. The warranty place now just wants to replace her computer, which is ok. But here comes the question. They want to replace it with a Compaq sr1311nx. I can't find much info on this, but it looks to be at least a year old. I personally think that if they are going to replace her system then it should be a new model. Also it has a AMD Sempron processor, have no idea if this is good or not. Her current system was a Intel Pent 4. Any help, advise........anyone can give with is welcome.

Brett

Re: New to board / have question

Hi mrchips, welcome to itsallPC

This would be an absolutely excellent deal. From what I remember, the 5000t series systems were quipped with socket 370 motherboards, which would mean Pentium III or Celeron processors, and all the trappings of such an antiquated architecture. The Sempron 3000+, basically a continuance of the Athlon XP architecture, would outclass anything that the original system has installed.

Although the architecture is not of the current generation, the system is contemporary; although low end/entry level. I do not agree that Compaq should replace a system that is fundamentally worthless today with anything better than that.
